BIOGRAPHY

Cedric Slack is a 30+ year resident of the California Bay Area. He is a transplant from Detroit, Michigan (the Motor City) by way of Mobile, Alabama. A family man quietly existing with his wife and his daughter, while building a music reputation of excellence. In fact, if you put it into his words, “good is not good enough, when excellence is available!”  Some might say, he has the charm and influences offered by the big city, while he is grounded by the principals and manners of the deep south. He’s very active in his church and business community.
He has a commanding voice which instantly introduces his presence and separates him from the masses attending any affair. Cedric sometimes referred to as "The Voice" is also known to be a great speaker. Whether he is speaking from the word of the Lord in church, motivational speaking to the upcoming youth of the next generation or in a humorous conversation with his friends, there is a lasting and favorable presence when he is around.
About his musical background: During the tender years of life when it seems that everyone else was pursuing piano, violin, or guitar lessons, he was introduced to the saxophone and became immediately infatuated by the shape and sight of the instrument alone. After hearing the artistry and the endless possibilities of it, he knew the sky was the limit. Cedric began playing in the school bands and this continued at every level (Elementary through University) – marching bands, classical orchestras, jazz, blues, big band but no greater joy than that of playing gospel music in the church.
About his music in general: His music is a perfect culmination of all the assorted styles experienced over the years until now. It stretches the imagination, embraces the inner spirit, while getting the attention of the listener and touches the soul. It can give you the peace of knowing that the music is powered by someone greater. His gift is truly a gift from God.

The "Slack sound" is much like a personal signature, many can have the same name, but there are no two signatures alike. That said, his sound and tone is unique as finger prints. His approach to music is inspirational and an encouragement to those who listen.

Over 40 years performing as a solo musician in houses of worship as well as with trios and quartets - opening acts, weddings & receptions, dinner parties – both large and small venues alike, the joy of sharing the gift of music continues. As it has been said through the years, “music is appropriate for every occasion!”
